eControl for tomorrow’s smart city
Over 300 customers, Mayors, municipal representatives and local authority technical services engineers were the guests of Thorn at the 2012 Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales exhibition at Porte de Versailles on November 20-22, in Paris.
Thorn took the opportunity to show the latest LED products in the eControl framework, using elements from the concept that proved successful at Light+Building in April, including the illuminated wall of '15 ways to save energy' icons. Visitors were given an interactive presentation concentrating on products and 'The Smart Building Experience,' which offers imaginative solutions to today's pressing need for saving energy and increasing lighting effectiveness in energy intensive environments, such as offices, schools, shops, hotels and hospitals.
A range of Hess products were on show in a specially-constructed area. A small plaza, complete with olive tree, was built for the display. The emphasis was on combining lighting and street furniture systems to enable a more consistent design approach to public outdoor spaces. After a first-hand look at the Marino tree grate and iconic Positano illuminated bench the visitors were able to view the new, minimalist New York LED luminaire for universal application in residential street lighting.
The 70m² stand also featured a selection of 2012 Light + Building highlights, namely Oxane and Dyana LED road lanterns as well as a preview of the new Legend LED. And, as the exhibition demonstrated, tomorrow's smart city will not be complete unless the demand for intelligent lighting controls is met. To prove the point, Thorn mounted a full demonstration of its e-Control program and latest lighting management offer, Streetlight.Vision for road lighting and Sensa TSC for indoor lighting.
Thorn France will be revealing more outdoor LED products at next year's Lumiville show in Lyon (May 28-30, 2013).
